Top 5 Accessories For Senior Sessions
Accessories are the perfect way to accent an outfit or finish off a look. Personally, I don’t think accessories get enough credit! They allow you to mix and match with various wardrobe pieces to create an entirely new look. Accessories are also a fun way to incorporate a little more of your personality, style, and interests into your senior session. As senior portrait season is underway, I thought I would share my top 5 Accessories for senior sessions
Top 5 Accessories for Senior Sessions
01. Sunglasses
The first accessory I suggest you bring to your senior session is sunglasses! Sunglasses can always add a fun element to any outfit you bring! Not to mention, there are hundreds of styles and colors to choose from that you can mix and match. Pair your retro outfit with sunnies that fit the era, or go for classic aviators to add a timeless look to your fave wardrobe piece!
Sunglasses help complete your look and also provide variety for posing! We can take a few shots with them on your face, resting on your head, or we can remove them all together – it’s up to you!
02. Hats
Hats are so much fun! Again, there are so many styles out there, there is something for everyone and for each season. If your senior session is in the spring, opt for a baseball hat, boaters hat, or even a bucket hat to keep your look light and fun.
If the weather is cooler for your senior session, go with a wide brimmed hat, beanie, or beret in deeper colors to match seasonal trends.
Summer is great for wide brimmed beach hats, or stylish fedoras. Hats can also be a reflection of you! If you are a beach girl, then a wide brimmed sun hat would be the perfect hat to add in. Maybe you play outdoor winter sports, or one of your hobbies includes sewing or crafting, including a knit beanie is a great way to add personal flair to your senior pictures.
03. Jewelry
Jewelry is my favorite accessory and is one that I most often recommend my seniors bring to their sessions. There are endless possibilities between different earrings, bracelets, necklaces, or rings.
You can never go wrong with adding jewelry to your session outfits. Jewelry, especially those statement pieces, help complete your outfit or look. Oftentimes, they add a bold pop of color or texture to your images.
Pro tip: Remember to bring both gold and silver jewelry to match your outfits and give plenty of variety to your looks.
Speaking of variety, I suggest bringing a few statement pieces, as well as any jewelry that you always wear to make your styling more personal and to ensure plenty of options.
04. Props
Including props in your senior session will make your session true to you. If you need some help thinking of what props to bring, here are few suggestions:
Cap and gown
Furry friend
Baseball glove, running shoes, or any item that represents your favorite sport
A favorite book, art supplies, or any item that reflects your hobbies and interests
These items will help memorialize your senior year and this amazing time in your life. Including personal items will also set your senior pictures apart from everyone else’s as they’ll be unique to you!
05. College Gear
If you know where you’re going after you graduate, bring some swag from the college you’ll be attending! Let’s grab some pictures of you in your college sweatshirts and hats, or waving that flag or acceptance banner to share your college pride! Senior pictures mark the ending of one chapter and the beginning of a new one! Including items from your college is a great way to celebrate this exciting moment in life and document the past and the future all at once. These images are also great photos to use in your graduation announcements to tell everyone where you’ll be headed in your next chapter of life!
I hope my top 5 Accessories for senior sessions inspire you as you plan your senior portraits. Don’t be afraid to incorporate accessories, in fact I encourage you to!
