Kansas City Fall Senior Session Spotlight | Maranatha High School Senior Kai
Capturing local Kansas City Seniors is the heartbeat of my business. It brings me so much joy to meet these driven, intelligent, and ambitious young people. They have such a passion for life and it is refreshing to be around. One thing is certain, the seniors I meet not only never cease to amaze me, but they reassure me that the future is in good hands. I recently had the joy of capturing this awesome young man, Kai, for his Kansas City Fall Senior Session! Kai’s session was very special to me as I’ve had the honor of knowing him his entire life!
Having watched Kai grow up, I could not be more proud of the young man he has become! He is currently finishing up his senior year at Maranatha High School. Outside of school he keeps himself busy with activities such as student council and a church group called Zero Hour Ministries, that focuses on sharing Jesus in their schools! After graduation, he hopes to attend K-state and study sports medicine!

We had the best time together during his session! We kept each other laughing and there was no shortage of smiles from either of us! Kai knew he wanted an urban inspired session that highlighted city structures. Downtown Kansas City has an excellent mixture of city buildings and spots with urban flair and city lines that were perfect for Kai’s fall senior session. Towards the end of his session, just as the sun started to set, I grabbed some of my favorite pictures of Kai by the train tracks, sitting next to a graffiti wall, and walking along a metal bridge in his blue sports jacket. It was the perfect way to end his session!

I love to ask my seniors questions about their future and certain aspects of their life to get to know them better. Even though I know Kai very well, I loved hearing his answers to these questions:
How do you feel about social media?
“If you let social media dictate your self-image it can be very harmful. It's the best of the best of others so remembering that not everyone is that perfect is very important. There are also many ways it can be used to encourage as well as tear others down. It's a great tool for long range communication which is important.”
What are you most grateful for that your parent/s have done for you?
“I'm thankful for everything my mom has done to raise me with great emphasis on strong morals. She has set me up for success in life every day even when she might not have felt like doing so.”
What words of advice would you give yourself as a new freshman coming into high school?
“Don't care what others think, have your own goals and dreams and pursue those instead of trying to get attention from others”
Name 3 things on your bucket list?
Live in some huge foreign city for a month or more
Sky dive
See the Niagara Falls
Best advice you've ever been given:
“You can't always control the situation you're in, but you can handle how you deal with it.”
Kai, it was an absolute honor to capture your senior portraits and celebrate this exciting time in your life! I am so incredibly proud of you and I know you will go on to do amazing things in this world as you continue to encourage and inspire others! Congratulations!
