Small Business Spotlight

It became evident that posting a small business spotlight each day was not going to be enough so I decide to add them all here. You can pick and choose which businesses you want to support and as often as you want. I’ll be adding to this list as I’m aware of businesses that need help. These businesses are shutting down left and right and need our immediate help. Even if we can help each business pay their lease or their mortgage by donating or purchasing gift cards, that could be HUGE!!!

Will you please consider donating to these local small businesses? Will you please join me in spreading the word about them via email, phone call, Fb, Instagram, LinkedIn, snail mail, or telling your neighbor from one front step to another? Will you please email me and let me know of more that could use some hope? There is so much uncertainty in these moments and each day is a new announcement of recommended or mandated closures. Kansas just announced public and accredited private schools must close for the rest or the school year. Wow.

I am offering a full, custom family portrait session worth $2100 in the hopes it will encourage more of you to give. But even if you have no need or already love your current photographer, please join me anyway. For those of you who would love to be entered into a drawing for a session, please share with me your proof of purchase and amount. You can email me or post on Fb and tag me and the business you help. Or if you are on Instagram, you can make your own post and tag us there as well. The point is to get the word around about these businesses and let me know so I can add you to the drawing! Let’s all work together to help our community!!!

Here’s a few details about the drawing. It will take place on Friday, March 1st. The time will be announced closer to that date. When you purchase a gift card, buy a meal or just make a flat donation, I’ll add you to the drawing. The more you spend, the more often you are entered.

When you spend at least:
$25, 1 entry
$50, 2 entries
$100, 5 entries
$200, 15 entries

The session will include an in person consultation to plan your location, clothing and style. The session will last approximately 60 minutes and within 1 week we’ll meet again for an in person ordering session. You will receive a 16×24 canvas wall portrait of your choice and over $1000 in print credit so you can get exactly what you want for your home. This session can not be gifted to another family and can not be traded for cash. We will make this session possible once we’re all comfortable with meeting together.

Now let’s get to the important stuff, the small businesses!!

First up is Destiny Hurst with Haven Yoga Studio in Lee’s Summit. She started off as a personal trainer in her home and 4 years ago moved into a shared space where her love of Jesus and Yoga was created. Her energy is awesome. Having just spoken to her once on the phone, I immediately liked her! What a positive spirit!! Here is all of her contact information and a direct link to purchase online punch cards or gift cards.

Next is a dear friend of mine that has been doing my own hair for years. Jes Gates with Behind the Chrysalis has been doing hair and bomb hair color for 20 years here in Kansas City. If you are in need of a great new haircut or color and can travel to downtown Kansas City, she’s your girl!! Or if you want to just bless her with a donation, that would be awesome. Or if you want to bless someone else with a gift card, please consider!! Here’s all of her information and link to an online purchase. Currently she is still open!!!!

Another Broken Egg Cage located in Overland Park is a brand new restaurant that offers some amazing breakfast and brunch options. Oh man, it’s yummy. Due to the closing of restaurants, they can only offer take out or delivery. Britney and John, the owners, would be so grateful for your business and if you want to purchase a gift certificate, you can email them at 1091-overlandpark@anotherbrokenegg.com.

Another favorite restaurant that is faced with mandated closures is Sierra Grill in Lenexa, KS. This tucked away little slice of heaven is a place you must visit! It’s casual atmosphere yet 5 star menu is excellent for a special date night. Ryan, the owner, brings his vast experience as a chef in Vegas for many years.

God’s Army of Kansas City is another non-profit agency who does amazing work around the city each month. They help widows and veterans and those with health needs who have home improvement projects. If you have ever wanted to be a part of a true grass roots organization who’s goal is to share Jesus and meet needs, this is it. They do a large fundraiser in the fall but their spring fundraiser has now been shut down. That means they need our donations!! Please, please consider giving to this organization. A link to donate directly is provided.

Brighton Academy may not be a small business that has immediate needs. However, this university style private school is designed to support homeschool families or families that otherwise can not attend public schools. Due to this world wide shut down, so many families will have a hard time paying for school when it reconvenes in the fall. Brighton is starting a scholarship fund for these families and I’d love nothing more than to spotlight them so that we can give back to families in this way.
